AUTOSAR appoints new Chairperson Team

The AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture) development partnership appointed a new Chairperson Team for this year. Rinat Asmus is staying in charge as AUTOSAR Chairman. Michael Niklas-Höret is appointed as the new Deputy-Chairperson and Jan Hegewald as the new speaker of the AUTOSAR Project Leader Team. Their term of office is from January to December 2022.

Rinat Asmus is an active member of the AUTOSAR Steering Committee representing BMW and is looking back to over 12 years of experience with AUTOSAR. Rinat Asmus holds a master’s degree in mechanics, robotics and automation engineering from the University of Applied Science in Würzburg-Schweinfurt and joined BMW in 2009. Since then, he has been engaged in Software Architecture, Engineering and AUTOSAR application in several BMW ECU projects. In addition, Rinat Asmus is passionately committed to the further development of AUTOSAR as a standard and as an organization, he will continue to support AUTOSAR with his dedicated approach in 2022.

The duties of the Deputy Chairperson of AUTOSAR are taken over by Michael Niklas-Höret, who is the representative from Continental. Michael Niklas-Höret has been active in AUTOSAR Standardization since 2013 in various roles, including being the AUTOSAR Steering Committee representative for Continental for four years. Michael, together with the Chairperson Team, is interested in preparing and guiding the AUTOSAR standard through the journey of the Software-Defined Vehicle. In addition, Jan Hegewald, who is the representative for VW in the AUTOSAR Project Leader Team, will take over as Project Leader Team Speaker. Jan Hegewald was the Technical Manager for the Classic Platform at AUTOSAR. Since September last year, Jan has been the VW representative in the Project Leader Team and brings this experience to the Chairperson Team. Jan is striving to advance AUTOSAR further as the standardization organization for automotive software architectures.

The new Chairperson Team took up their responsibility at the beginning of this year and are looking forward to a successful year full of perspectives and exciting growth for AUTOSAR as a standard and as an organization.
